Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Minister of Human Development
"UNICEF has been such a catalyst and a champion and celebrating 35 years of something is a big deal so and it feels good that the ministry was able to bring especially the children out today there was a little boy from United Evergreen here in Belmopan the kids from Pallotti well I didn't see all schools but I am really pleased with the event today and hearing the history of what he happened since 1990 when we signed the CRC convention hearing that history from Ms Adele Catzim our CEO and also on the education side from CEO Dian Maheia you have to pinch yourself because a lot has indeed happened and. I'm very proud today that we could reach this stage but of course there's a lot more work to do."
Ekhnasan- Nasan Ulzii, UNICEF, Programmes Coordinator
"Throughout its history the convention on the rights of the child has helped to shape healthier and safer environments for children across the globe and to create results for millions Belize has certainly been no exception Belize was the fifth country to ratify the CRC and as you have heard we have made great gains in bringing this vision into reality. Various government administrations have changed its laws and policies as CEO Catzim has nicely spoke about it and made investments to increase access to healthcare and education and transportation included for children to survive and develop and to protect children from violence and exploitation the CRC has also enabled more children to have their voices heard participating in their societies while we are proud of these achievements we are cognizant of the challenges before us."
