And while they bickered over local politics, the PM took Friday to boast about the record earnings from Boledo - whose financials went to the house. The PM quoted an impressive revenue stream - most of which was paid out in winnings and commissions:
John Briceno, Prime Minister "For the period of November, well the first sale was in November 21st of 2023, right up to November 30th of 2024, BGL recorded sales of $111,164,580.18, which was for boledo and lottery sales only."
"So after 12 months of sales, Madam Speaker the government lottery under the management of the Belize Government's Lottery Limited, we have earned a total profit of $16.6 million. This is a 564% or a $14.1 million increase in revenues collected by government compared to what they were collecting under the Barrow administration."
"Them people have no shame, Madam Speaker, they were just ripping us off. As we agreed in cabinet, Fi We Boledo will be used to help to fund the national health insurance and to assist with sports for young people."
