Sunday's other murder happened early in the morning in the Cayo District. Police can't say why anyone would have wanted to kill 45 year old Benque Viejo resident Carlos Lara but they did so with merciless aggression. Here's more:
On Sunday morning, Carlos Lara's body was found here in the Maya Ranch Area at mile 6½ on the Mountain Pine Ridge / El Progresso Village Road. He had been viciously chopped to the face, shoulder and hands.

"The discovery of a body in the Cayo District, upon arrival they saw the lifeless body of a person with several chop wounds. He was identified as Carlos Lara. Information is that he left his home around 10.30, and thereafter was found lifeless, in that area, several chop wounds."

"It's an isolated area, he is usually seen in town at different stores."
His family told police he was also seen at home on Sunday morning at 1:30 am. Hours later, he was dead, with this bent knife beside him - which police say is not the murder weapon.
