It happened on Saturday January 4th, at Turneffe caye 20 miles from the city. 59 year old fisherman Godfrey Hyde's body was found with apparent gunshot injuries. ACP Romero told us more:

"Upon arrival they saw the lifeless body of a male person at one of the islands with apparent gunshot injuries information is that the caretaker of the island was there for a while and someone brought supplies for him after which the body was found. The body was identified to be that of Godfrey Hyde, 59 years fisherman of Belize city."

Scenes of crime technicians recovered one expended shell.

Police have yet to determine a motive, and no arrests have been made.
