There was another attempted break in at the Phillip Goldson Terminal Cargo Warehouse over the weekend. One of the intruders fired a shot at the security guard.
ACP Romero told us what happened:
Hilberto Romero, ACP OC Eastern Division
"On Sunday the 5th day of January 2025 police responded to a shooting at the PGIA by the cargo area. Information was received that two security guards were working at the time when they saw persons in the compound. They became concerned and told the persons to leave at which point they heard a gunshot the police were called and the persons had already left the area. We reviewed the surveillance footage to try and establish the identity of these two persons. The place was not broken into and nothing was stolen."
The culprits escaped through a breach in the chain-link fence on the south end of the compound, which faces the airport runway.
One expended 9mm shell and one live 9mm round were recovered.
In September of 2023, there was another attempt to get into the warehouse compound, but that one also failed.
