A teacher from Belize High School of Agriculture was charged with sexual assault after a student reported that on two occasions he assaulted her. The minor reported the matter on November 22nd and told police that back in May 2023, the teacher, 31 year old Joaquin Cruz kissed her and placed his hands on her hips, which made her uncomfortable. He then began to message her telling her that he would give her extra points and better grades if she had a relationship with him. The student also told police that in October and November of 2024, Cruz kissed her again and digitally penetrated her.
He was detained yesterday and is expected to be arraigned soon.
