The third murder for 2025 was a broad daylight shooting in front of St Martin De Porres RC School on Kremandala Drive in Belize City - shortly after 1:00. Giovanni Ramirez was ambushed and executed by gunmen on a motorcycle.
The weapon used was reportedly a semi-automatic firearm and 12 bullet holes could be seen in the driver's side window.
When police arrived on scene, the vehicle - a red Ford Explorer - had crashed into a nearby fence. Ramirez's body was locked inside and police tried to break the glass with rock to no avail.
Eventually they were able to open the back door, and then the front one.
The scene was processed for the next two hours while onlookers from the community gathered outside the caution tape, waiting for the moment the police would take the body out.
Around 3:00, the body was placed into a bag and then in the back of a police pick up truck headed straight for the morgue.
Ramirez's name may be familiar because he was the main witness in the case against Attorney Oscar Selgado who was sentenced to ten years for abetment to commit murder. Ramirez provided the prosecution with recordings of conversations he had with Selgado, in which the attorney asked him to kill Marilyn Barnes. Ramirez requested that his statement be used in the case so he did not have to take the witness stand because he feared for his life. That request had been granted.
He had at least one other case in the court and was known on the streets now police will have to determine who targeted him in rival gang turf and why.
