A Corozal man is recovering after he was shot by Sarteneja police on Thursday.
26 year old Moises Verde allegedly pulled a gun and fired several shots towards the officers who were in pursuit of him. He was wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm.
Officers were attempting to locate Verde when they spotted him walking down a road with another man. When the police ordered him to stop, they say he pulled a 38 pistol from his shirt and fired several shots at the cops. They returned fire and hit him in his leg. Verde was taken to the Northern Regional where he is in a stable condition. The .38 revolver was retrieved at the scene along with three live rounds and expended casings.
