Yesterday we told you about the killing of BDF soldier, Private Clive Baizar. It happened at the Cirque Sarco Observation Post where 32 year old Lance Corporal Alfredo Robinson shot his fellow soldier multiple times with a military grade assault rifle, an M4 Carbine.
Well, this morning, Lance Corporal Robinson was charged for the crime of murder. He will be remanded.
Robinson was senior to Baizar in rank and was the second most senior officer at the Post. Reports said that Baizar had struck him - and he then went for his weapon and fired as many as 8 rounds.
Yesterday, the BDF General said he should have written up the junior officer:
Brig. Gen. Azariel Loria, Commander, BDF
"The Lance Corporal is one rank ahead of the private soldier, ahead of Mr. Baizar. He could have easily written a report, report to the patrol commander. But in so doing, he overreacted. That is why I'm saying that that is the reports that we are getting."
"It is allegations at this point in time. We have to continue to interview the Lance Corporal now and continue to interview the remainder of the patrol to ascertain what exactly happened. We were told by the same patrol members that they were bantering and it culminated with a smack on the chest of the Lance Corporal. But that does not give him any right, any right at all to use deadly force against his subordinate."
Baizar refused to give an alcohol sample, according to the general. We note that Robinson was also on the ill fated Xunantunich patrol in October of 2023 - where another soldier had his M4 Carbine stolen. The gun was stolen when the soldiers were drinking. Robinson was part of the patrol but denied he was drinking - even though the other soldiers said otherwise - he was acquitted of that charge.
