Lincoln Bejerano, who was convicted last year for the 2016 murder of Belmopan taxi man Isidro Suar, was sentenced this afternoon at the Belmopan Magistrates court. Justice Antoinette Moore sentenced him to life, or 25 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole. Bejerano has been on remand for 6 years so that was dedicated from his sentence.
The 34-year-old had been charged many times for an assortment of crimes and was long considered a menace in the greater Belmopan area.
The case took longer than usual to come to a resolution because Bejerano had escaped from Belize police and been on the run for three years.
