Cops And Mediators Scramble To Contain Fallout From Weekend Gang Fight
posted (January 30, 2025)
Turning now to crime news, the police and mediators are trying to contain an eruption of gang violence after a fight at a party in Roaring Creek over the weekend.

Reports are that two city gangs clashed at this party - and two gang figures from one of the gangs got beaten up. That is usually met with an escalation of retaliatory force and the Commissioner told us yesterday they are tying to contain it:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We are aware of that and we are on top of it as well. I had directed over the weekend or on Monday that those elements be picked up, they were picked up and efforts is being made to do interventions with them. I would have hoped that we would be able to get some evidence to be able to charge and nobody wants to cooperate so we don't have evidence that we can charge anybody but certainly intervention is one of the things we are employing to try and see if we can quell whatever issue is between them."

Jules Vasquez:
"Anything on Raheem Usher because I know that there are reports that he may have been at that party as well."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"At this time no, but I know Corozal police is working with the family to see what they can do to search different areas in Corozal because as we were made to understand, he was left at some house in Corozal Town and so we are focusing our investigation in that particular area."

Mediation meetings were held yesterday.
