On Friday we told you that the Christian Workers Union sent a letter to the Minister of Labour announcing that it is invoking the twenty-one days' notice to institute industrial action against Port of Belize Limited.
Well, tonight the Minister has responded. He says, quote, "Given the essential nature of the services provided, the Ministry has taken note of the concerns raised and will proceed in accordance with the provisions of the Act. In this regard, steps will be taken to constitute the Essential Services Arbitration Tribunal to address the dispute." End quote.
So now representatives will be nominated to the Tribunal, and, the minister warns,"
In the interim, we remind all parties that, as per the Settlement of Disputes in Essential Services Act, no industrial action should be taken while the matter is before the Tribunal."
