Lately in the news you've been hearing about Anand Ramlogan and Jerry Enriquez and their case against GOB. But they're not the only ones trying to force a redistricting exercise before the general election.
11 weeks ago, the Belize Peace Movement once again took GOB to high court on the same matter. In that matter, the government had similarly retained senior counsels Eamon Courtenay and Godfrey Smith.
But up to now, the case still hasn't been called back to court, and the general election has been set for March 12th.
In a court filing yesterday, claimant Roody Wade made an urgent application for a hearing. Like Ramlogan and Enrqiuez, they're asking the court for a declaration that the register of voters is, quote, "malapportioned, unconstitutional, and therefore
unsuitable for use in conducting the upcoming general elections." End quote.
Today in Santa Elena, Roody Wade pleaded for a response from the court as soon as possible.

"That filing is to ask the judge to please hear our submission and that we have eleven weeks that we have filed and we would like a response from the court, that is all that petition is about."
"We would like that the leader of this country postpones the elections that he had called for March 12th until redistricting is held. That's about it, equal representation, that's all we're asking for."
"The executive in this country runs the entire country, whether the judiciary, that's my thoughts on that, the way things happen in this country, it's been dictated by the executive."
"Who wouldn't care? I mean if a person gets $5 and 2,000 voters and the, like for instance my area, with nearly 9,000 voters get the same $5, how is it equal? And I will say no more. that's such a simple analogy of what I'm saying."
"I urge regular people to petition their area representative, he or she, that we need redistricting before we go to the polls, that's about it."
