Shyne's Former Collet Candidate Shows Up In Blue
posted (February 17, 2025)
And while there wasn't a spot of red in the crowd at the Civic Center, there was a one-time UDP candidate sporting a blue shirt. You may remember Gladys Paredez, UDP's candidate for the Collet division, who was supposed to replace Patrick Faber. She was at Shyne Barrow's last press conference on January 28th.

Well, less than one month later, she's been kicked off the slate and yesterday she was supporting the candidate in the constituency she's actually registered in - Fort George -while still projecting herself as a UDP candidate. LoveFM caught up with her outside the Civic Center and here's what she told them.

Gladys Paredez, UDP Collet
"Hi, good morning."

Reporter
"Ms. Paredez, you're, uh, Mr. Barrows pick for the Collet division for the United Democratic Party. Many of my question, what are you doing out here?"

Gladys Paredez, UDP Collet
"Okay, let me tell you this, right. I am a registered voter in Fort George, so I have all rights to be here supporting whosoever is running in Fort George. Because I, myself, cannot vote for myself in Collet, this is whereby vote will be, right?"

Reporter
"For the People's United Party."

Gladys Paredez, UDP Collet
"I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that that is my personal business, and so I can be wherever I want to be because at the end of the day I can't be in Collett, right. Because that was Mr. Daleys turf, I vote in Fort George. And this is my ex-mother-in-law."

Reporter
"Would you think that would send the wrong signal to persons you're trying to garner support from?"

Gladys Paredez, UDP Collet
"Not at all, because at the end of the day, some people are within Collet that vote in Mesop for Shyne, and I send them. If they have the choice, they can go to Lee Mark Chang, they can go to Shyne, whatever camp - they have options. I always give people options, okay? I can't hold their hands and anything on that day."
