In an interview with the Prime minister this morning in Orange Walk Central following his nomination, when the media asked him about Vega's decision to run as an independent candidate, his first answer was that she should have known better. But when we spoke to Vega later that afternoon, she said that the PM's response does not come as a surprise to her given that she felt she was not being protected at all during her time in office.

"I heard the PM speaking this morning and I am very disappointed in him because my question is, Jomarie, where was the PM when I wa pushed in front of the Corozal town council office? Where was the PM when Plan Corozal was attacking me from the get go? I got in in March and I believe it was in the ending of May Plan Corozal was there and I went to him and I said, PM this is what is happening should not be happening. I have been voted in as the area representative and his response to me was "that is politics." That was his response to me and he told me I can't do anything about it."
