And while they didn't talk about foreign policy at that event - 7News has received reports that Belize is slowly stepping back from its robust support of Palestine on the world stage.
We note that the Hague Group - formed to protect and uphold the rulings of the International Court of Justice and The International Criminal Court in relation to the findings against Israel - no longer has Belize listed on its website. Belize was one of 9 founding members from the Global south.
And, reports to this newsroom are that Belize has decided to withdraw from the group - so as not to draw the ire of the pro Israeli Trump Administration.
When we asked the Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca about it via text, he said "the matter is under review by Cabinet."
Today, when we asked the Prime Minister he danced all around the issue without saying that Belize had withdrawn:
John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Well I think we need to take a look at Belize's stand when it comes to Palestine we have gone beyond the call of duty standing up for what is right that when we decided that we want to put on pause the diplomatic relations with Israel we were hoping that then members in CARICOM and Central America would join us but nobody did. We went and joined the South Africa case and again hoping others would join us and again nobody has done. As a small country we also our principles never change our principles never waver. We also have to take a realistic look at what is happening around us. We continue to support Palestine. We will fight for Palestine and so that is our position at this time."
We will wait and see if Belize will also withdraw from the South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the ICJ - which Belize had joined.
