For the first time in its history - the UDP will be offering no candidate in four constituencies after its standard bearers went ghost on nomination day.
One of those divisions is Dangriga and it puts a whole new dynamic in play. That's because the independent candidate Cyril Uruwei Garcia is the only man keeping democracy alive in that constituency.
You may remember him when he offered himself to challenge the PUP Area Rep Louis Zabaneh in a PUP convention. But, his candidacy was rejected.
And now he's turned up as an independent candidate. We asked him how much his prospects have improved since the UDP's candidate bailed on nomination day:
