Someone had been lying in wait for him and the compol said it was as the result of a dispute. He opened with a reflection on the bloody weekend:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I must say that we had Avery, long and rough weekend in Belize City, it was one of those weekends that really tests the police's ability to, to respond."

"Saturday night police received information of shots fired in the Fabers road extension area and upon responding they discovered one Mark Usher suffered from gunshot injuries he was taken to the KHMh where he was admitted in a critical condition and a few hours later he succumbed to his injuries. Police investigation so far have led to the arrest of an individual who has since been charged for the crime of murder in respect to the shooting death of Mark Usher."
