The commissioner today lamented that murder, because police moved quickly to pre-empt it with some preventative detentions.
Still, somehow, death walked right up to their door, and claimed the life of the innocent eldest brother:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"What happened is that following the death of Mark Usher we had detained all the Caceres brothers but we did not go for Rafael because Rafael has not been in the loop he has been a very good citizen a law abiding citizen working and so we did not anticipate they would have targeted him he actually lives far away from the other Caceres brothers so I guess that because they could not have found the other brothers they went after the one most vulnerable."
"It is our belief that the shooting death of Caceres is a direct retaliation for the death of Mark Usher, our investigation team has been on the grounds working with the people trying to gather as much information as we can could have and we have since detained one suspect that suspect will be placed on identification parade today and it is our hope he will be identified and will be charged for the murder of Mr Caceres sometime hopefully by the end of the day today."
"It is painful for everybody including us because the man was certainly doing well and living with his family, not bothering nobody. And so when you venture to kill somebody innocent just because you couldn't get the ones that you want, that is troubling and we take it seriously. That's the reason why we deployed as much as we could have resources in the area to gather whatever evidence we can gather so that we can hold those responsible for his murder to justice."
Regarding the Murder of Rafael Caceres, police today formally arrested and charged Lawrence Anthony Polonio AKA Makala, 31 years, Belizean Labourer of # 4334 Fabers Road.
