ComPol Brings Charges Against Woman For Defamatory Facebook Post

A public officer has been charged with a Cyber Crime - against the commissioner of police, no less. She is 37 year old Nichole McDonald, an employee of the Department of Youth Services. On Thursday March 6th McDonald made a comment through her personal facebook page under a post accusing the commissioner of criminal collusion and a number of other serious crimes. She did so without offering any proof.

She appeared unrepresented in the magistrates court today where she was read a single charge of using a computer system to disseminate a false statement. She pleaded not guilty and told the magistrate that she meant no harm. After 4 days in police custody she was offered bail of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount. Her conditions of bail is that she must stay away from the commissioner and not contact any of his family members and stay off her facebook account. She is due back in court on May 14th.
