And turning back now to politics, with 12 hours before the polls open, Cayo Central is one of the constituencies to look out for.
It's considered to be a battleground - a historically red seat that went to the PUP in the blue tsunami of 2020.
But, could it go back red - even with a newcomer in the UDP's standard bearer seat?
Well, all we can say for sure right now is that it's a super tight race between the incumbent Alex Balona and the UDP's Mark O'Brian.
And in a dash to the finish, O'Brian was out campaigning during Monday's holiday. Our news team was in Cayo and Courtney Menzies has this story.
Cayo Central will be a battleground come March 12th - and whether the PUP candidate can hold onto his seat is anybody's guess.
But if you asked the UDP candidate, Mark O'Brian, he says that the work he's put in over the past year speaks for itself.
Mark O'Brian, UDP Candidate, Cayo Central
"If you look behind me, the energy is obvious. The support is behind Mark O'Brian for Cayo Central and there's never a holiday for when you want to serve the people, you serve the people from Sunday to Sunday, all during the year, all during your life, because if it is in your heart to serve you continue to serve as much as you can."
"After they called elections, they gave us a month to campaign. Mark O'Brian started campaigning from about a year ago. Mayor Trapp and the councillors are right here, they can tell you, they are witnesses to Mark O'Brian being on the ground from municipal elections, went through the entirety of Santa Elena, I'm back in Santa Elena again. After we finished from the municipal elections, I went into the villagers, we have about ten villages in the Cayo Central."
"And I've been in all of those areas and in every single village, in the town, it is clear that Mark O'Brian is going to win Cayo Central on March 12th."
He added that Cayo needs a UDP rep in order to create that line of communication between central and local government.
Mark O'Brian, UDP Candidate, Cayo Central
"One of the main issue here in Santa Elena is the collaboration with town council. If I am elected as the standard bearer for Cayo Central area rep, hopefully in the future minister, we can work hand in hand with Mayor Trapp, a four time mayor, the council, and get a lot more done here in Santa Elena,. In the villages the farmers are complaining about their farm roads, access to their farm roads, they want to work their farms, they want to harvest their crop and they want to make a turnover but because of the condition of their roads, it is difficult for the farmers to put bread on their table."
And though yesterday was a public and bank holiday O'Brian and the UDP mayor, Earl Trapp, were out in full campaign mode. O'Brian even filled in briefly at a tortilla shop along the way.
Trapp, who survived two blue tsunamis - first in 2021 and then last year in 2024 - said that the energy is completely different this time around.
Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"It's two big comparisons, 2020, there was the blue wave. They were given the opportunity but they failed and that's the reason why today people are calling on new blood to run the country so I believe that at the least what we are looking for right now is a good number of seats that we'll be able to reform the party and move forward in the best interest of the country."
Courtney Menzies:
"Do you think the fact that your entire slate was elected just last year, that's indicative of Cayo wanting to, you know, the red hills coming back?"
Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"Well, I'll be honest with you. I have been in the 3 constituencies and it's looking magnificent for the 3 area reps here in Cayo. I was in San Antonio yesterday, that's a village, and those people honestly are dissatisfied with the current area rep for that place so they were saying that they will give Mr O'Brian an opportunity to come in and help them in their villages."
Courtney Menzies:
"What about Cayo Northeast?"
Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"I'm very much impressed in that area, I thought that would have been like a 50/50 but to be honest, since I've been more in the different villages, Esperanza, Santa Familia, those two villages are big villages and those villages are saying that they will support Albert Fernandez because of the simple fact that the current area rep has not done anything for them. But it's looking very good."
And while O'Brian was campaigning, his other Cayo colleagues were more focused on logistics this close to the election day. Same for his opponent - though we visited Alex Balona's office, he declined an interview.
We did try to reach out to the Balona team again today for an interview, but without success.
