Maricarmen Plata, OAS,Chief of Electoral Observation Mission
"Well we are here, I should mention from the OAS, the organisation of American states, our mission is made up on 12 people from 7 different nationalities we have been deployed for a couple of days now meaning with all the stakeholders and we have been observing the actual elections today from the outset from the opening of the polls this morning."

"Well we have been all over we have the team deployed in all different parts of the country so everybody has been observing and letting us know the feedback of the different constituencies."

"For now we have seen a very calm election we have seen good turn out but hopefully that will increase in the afternoon so we are looking to seeing more people coming out this afternoon they are still a couple of hours left in the day and we do want to encourage people to come out because its important to have as much participation as we can and we realise its often warm in the morning and then not that much in the afternoon so it would be great to see more people coming out in the afternoon and taking advantage of the couple of hours that we have left."

"We have basically met with the main parties that are participating in the election the political leaders the different stake holders and the authorities as well so we have been looking at different aspects such as technology electoral processes and different aspects of the election from the beginning from the outset and then today."

The delegation today met with the Governor General in Belmopan.
