As you saw earlier in the news, Panton enjoys the support of all four of her colleagues who were elected on Wednesday.
But she expected Patrick Faber to be there with her. As we told you, the 5 term Collet representative was beaten by newcomer Devin Daly.
It's a bitter loss for the UDP - to see a stronghold go down - and when the media asked Panton about it, she said that Daly's win was due to cold hard cash, but that Faber will always have a place in the UDP.
Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition
"I think that if you were vigilant on the ground on Election Day as members of the media you'd know that huge, insane amounts of monies were spent not only in Collet but in other constituencies. It is a blow to our democracy that we have gotten to the place where money is going to determine the future of this country. Patrick Faber as you know is a colleague of mine, he's a formidable politician, I enjoy his support, and he will have a very prominent role to play in the UDP as we move forward."
