REPORT: ComPol Slows Timeline for Transition
posted (March 25, 2025)
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, we already know he's moving on, but when? Last night on the news, you heard the commissioner speak wistfully about his more than 3 decades in the department and all that he hopes to accomplish in his new job as the CEO in the Ministry of Transport, Religious, Constitutional and Indigenous Affairs. But while he says his job is done, apparently the man who's been the longest serving commissioner in the history of the department, wants a few more months to smoothly transition out. Reports reaching 7News are that Williams is proposing a 3 month timeline for what's being proposed is an incremental transition of power to the new commissioner, Deputy Richard Rosado. This would put the outgoing commissioner in position to send off the most recent intake of police recruits, squad 98, who pass out in June.

When asked about the timeline today, Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa said "the details of his contract as CEO and timeline for departure will be determined by the PM's office."
