The People's Constitution Commission has completed its recommendations, which is the prelude to the final report. Today, they disclosed some key points. First, there are 167 recommendations laid out on 129 pages. The document culminates almost 3 years work. It now goes to a period of review and comment from the various stakeholder groups between March 26th and April 26th.
A release to stakeholder notes, quote, "while some of these recommendations may not enjoy unanimous support by some members of the commissioner and others may be considered aspirational, the documents culminated two years and 7 months of our work to produce them."
And one member who is not happy at all is Caleb Orozco. In a scathing email sent to the chairman and copied to the press today, he says, quote, "These recommendations are sprinkled with White Christian National ideology...that is grounded in White Supremacy that impacts the reproductive rights of women, access to sexual and reproductive health education places a stronghold on young people's freedom of expression and further marginalises the L.G.B.T population. The recommendations are filled with religious propaganda that mirrors white conservative values in the US." End quote.
He ends, saying, quote, "Chairman, I promise you that the first person who will feel my community's wrath will be you." End quote.
