There were two notable denials of bail today in the Court of Appeal. First, Oscar Selgado applied for bail pending an appeal for his conviction for abetment to commit murder. He is serving a 10 year sentence.
His attorney Trinidadian Peter Taylor made submissions to Court of Appeal justice Arif Bulkan that due to his health issues, Selgado should get bail pending the outcome of his appeal.
Bulkan today handed down his decision, denying the bail, and saying that the appeal was already expedited and will be heard in June. The DPP CherylLynn Vidal appeared for her office.
Aslo denied bail was Anke Doehm - who is serving five years for cruelty to her child and who also has health issues.
Her attorney Leo Bradley argued for bail pending the hearing of her appeal before Justice Peter Foster. Again, it was denied. The DPP represented her office.
