Sarteneja Community Stands Up For Their OC
posted (April 8, 2025)
You often hear about large groups of people coming together to get rid of people in charge, but in the village of Sarteneja Corozal, last night the community actually came together to demand that their local police sergeant not be transferred.

They called on the Northern regional commander, senior superintendent Chris Noble who heard their concerns and reasons why they wished to keep Sergeant William Marroquin as their OC.

Sergeant Marroquin was ordered to be transferred after 10 months, but the community refuses to let him go without putting up a fight. Marroquin is said to have established several community policing programs in the village along with a robust police cadet group and other key initiatives.

We obtained a few clips from the meeting last night of superintendent Chris Noble addressing the community.

Sr. Supt. Chris Noble, Northern Regional Commander
"And I am appreciative of the people coming out to support my police. I'll give you a quick one about this gentleman Marroquín. He used to work with me, about 20 years ago, should I say?"

Crowd
"Yes we need to know."

Sr. Supt. Chris Noble
"Everywhere he goes the people love him so he is like you. The people are out here for one person, imagine what you can do for the entire village. Right so there is no way I Christopher Noble have not taken your message. There is definitely, I said 9:00 Wednesday morning Belmopan we will go with you. I can drive my ass there and go with you, why I will go and knock on the door and say boss someone is out here to see you. But seriously you can get your people together and you go because from what I've seen the only time this has happened to me in my career is when they told me I would move from San Pedro, I was in charge of San Pedro and when they told me I was going to move I said nope."

We are told the community members also called the higher ranks of the Department who would now be hard pressed to follow through with that transfer.
