Major Drug Trial Fell Apart After 4 Years, ComPol Not Fretting
posted (April 10, 2025)
Untitled Document On Tuesday we told you that the magistrate in the trial for the men captured following a drug plane landing in Mountain Pine Ridge abruptly recused herself.

That brought an end to the trial that had been going for almost four years - since the drugs were busted in late 2021. And now, the whole trial has to start all over for the 7 accused men - one of whom has been on remand since the bust.

The ComPol doesn't seem to be fretting about the outcome of the case too much. We spoke to him about it today.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"From the briefing I got from the prosecutor Ms Elrington, there seems to have been some issue in the courtroom where she believes that the case was not going as it should and that there may have been some degree of bias on the part of the magistrate and based on that, she made a submission to the magistrate for the magistrate to recused herself. That submission was accepted and the magistrate recused herself and so we just have to look forward to a new trial."

There were 5 defense attorneys on the case - and one of them, Dickie Bradley says they may take the issue of the prolonged delay to the High Court.
