And, in other news, there was a high-level diplomatic call today between the United States and Belize.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Prime Minister John Briceño. A synopsis from the US State Department says Rubio reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two countries and praised Belize for its efforts to counter illegal immigration, combat organized crime, and support security efforts in Haiti. The two leaders also discussed economic issues, including tariffs, and Belize's continued engagement with the International Court of Justice and Guatemala regarding the Sarstoon River.
Secretary Rubio, quote, "pledged U.S. support to help strengthen the investment climate for American businesses in Belize."
The call ended with both leaders committing to deepen the close ties between the United States and Belize.
