Tonight police in the city are on alert and there is a nationwide all points bulletin for well-known underworld figure Arthur Young. He is wanted for the murder of 24-year-old Kelvin "Kelo" Young, the son of another well-known figure - James Young. Kelvin Young was murdered inside his home in Belama on Friday night. He was stabbed to death and police say Arthur Young and Errol Haynes are the killers. Haynes is in jail tonight but Arthur Young reportedly fled the scene of Friday's murder and hasn't been seen since. It's a baffling crime because the two accused and the deceased were believed to be allies. 7NEWS went looking for answers.

Calvin Young - who also goes by the name Kelvin "Kelo" Young - was murdered inside his home on the third floor of this building at number 2323 Juliet Soberanis Street in Belama. On Friday night, Kelvin was inside his third floor apartment with Errol Haynes, Arthur Young, and a teenager - Floyd Wade - when there was an argument which resulted in Kelvin's murder.

"Around 10:35 pm they visited that area where they saw Mr. Young, 24 year old boat captain, lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood apparently dead and he had multiple stab wounds to the back, head and neck. Our investigation reveals that he along with a minor and two other persons, including Errol Haynes were at the house where some misunderstanding occurred. As a result the minor was stabbed to the throat as well as the body and was presumed to have been dead. Thereafter his assailant went outside into the living room and then stabbed Mr. Young to his death."

Assistant Commissioner of Police Allan Whylie says Floyd Wade managed to escape. He is alive but is in protective custody. According to police, Kelvin Young and Floyd Wade were stabbed by Errol Haynes. He was taken to court this afternoon where he was charged for murder. Police are also seeking Arthur Young. Tonight he is at large and this wanted poster with his picture is being circulated countrywide.

Allan Whylie,
"We've issued a warrant in the first instance for the arrest of Arthur Young and we've also notified all our police formations."

Whylie and his criminal investigation chief Aaron Guzman refused to speculate on a possible motive.

Allan Whylie,
"We've not established the motive so to speak. Perhaps when we apprehend Mr. Young, then perhaps he'll be prepared to shed some light in terms of why and what. But those things, in spite of not having a motive, based on where we are, we are satisfied that we have sufficient evidence to charge Mr. Haynes and Arthur Young for the murder."

A motive is unclear but what is clear are the implications of Calvin Young's murder. He is the son of noted figure James Young. Assistant Commissioner Whylie says police are on alert for expected retaliation -and that's even though - all four involved in Friday night's blood bath were affiliated with the same Back-a-Town crew.

"We have briefed our personnel in terms of stepping up our patrols. We are increasing our stop and search in terms of persons we know who are associates and there's nothing to expect that at this point in time that any retaliation is being planned but we will try to be as pro-active as possible."

Kelvin Young was stabbed 20 times. The teenager who survived the knife attack is Floyd Wade. He is in the KHMH under police guard. Police say he is being guarded for his own safety. 23-year-old Errol "Butch" Haynes will be arraigned in court tomorrow. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Arthur young is asked to contact the nearest police station.

For context, we note that Arthur Young is known by police to be an associate of James Young and, by extension, his son, Kelvin. In line with that, police note that there were no signs of forced entry at the residence of Kelvin Young which indicates to investigators that they entered freely and a misunderstanding, a very vicious one, is believed to have erupted once they got inside.
