Two days after police set chase after two armed suspects in Belize City tonight
the cops have one of the men they believe was involved. Steve Lemoine is in
awaiting charges after he chopped a resident of the home where he threw the
weapon when he ran from the cops.
Twenty three year old student Ornel Sosa told police that yesterday afternoon
while he was standing outside his residence on Newtown Barracks, he was approached
by Steve Lemoine who was in the company of three other men and two women.
According to Sosa, Lemoine asked him to return the firearm that was dropped
in his yard. But Sosa replied that the police had taken his friend with the
firearm to the police station. Not satisfied with that answer, Sosa told authorities
that Lemoine and his companions then entered his house and conducted a search.
They found nothing, but instead of simply leaving Lemoine and his friends started
to beat him. Sosa says that is when Lemoine then took a machete from underneath
the kitchen sink and chopped him on the left shoulder right elbow, right ring
finger and upper chest.
Steven Lemoine is expected to be charged and taken over to Magistrate’s
Court on Friday.
