Post Mortem Says Soldier Didn't Drown
posted (May 22, 2008)

On Wednesday a post mortem examination was conducted on BDF Lance Corporal Warren Jeffrey Cho. The soldiers’ body was retrieved from the Macal River last Friday night after he got into a drunken brawl at a bar in the Cayo District. He died on Tuesday morning. According to Benigno Cho his son he was chased, beaten and then thrown into the water.

Today Cayo police informed 7NEWS that based on the post mortem results they are now investigating it as a murder, not a drowning. We also understand that the Belize Defence Force is conducting an investigation to determine if indeed someone else may have caused the death of Lance Corporal Cho. The post mortem showed that Lance Corproal Cho died as a result of acute pulmonary edema due to bleeding to the right lung. That is consistent with a blow he received.

However there is no evidence to establish if he was actually beaten or how he may have gotten the blow that caused the trauma to the lung. Lance Corporal Warren Jeffrey Cho had been with the BDF for three years.
