Almost one year after one of Belize City’s most notorious criminals Stackles
Monsanto was shot in the back by a Chinese business woman during a robbery at
Kim’s Store in Belize City, today Mansanto was shot in the act, again.
Monsanto is under police guard at the KHMH recovering from a bullet wound to
the left side of his buttocks.
According to police reports around seven fifty eight this morning fruit vendor
Walter Gonzales was working at the corner of Church and Albert Streets when
Monsanto grabbed the man’s bike and rode off with it but Gonzales ran
after Monsanto. The chase led Gonzales into the neighbourhood of Duck Lane where
he sought assistance from a police officer who just happened to be in the area.
The police man identified only as one Peters then picked up the chase and caught
up with Monsanto on George Street.
Investigations reveal that the police officer approached Monsanto and ordered
him to stop but he refused. Instead, the police man claims Monsanto picked up
the bicycle he had just stolen and threw it at the police officer who responded
by taking out his service nine milimeter pistol and fired one shot. Police say
following his recovery at the KHMH, Stackles Monsanto will be charged with robbery
and aggravated assault on the police officer.
