“They noticed that the office was a little bit in disarray and when they looked around they saw that certain equipment were also missing from the office.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
The equipment include…

Pat Andrews,
“Computers, telephones, and fax machines and stuff like that.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
I understand that the person gained access to the building through the side window?

Pat Andrews,
“Yes through a side or back window they broke open the window and gained access through their yes.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Was this the first time there was such a break in?

Pat Andrews,
“As far as I can ascertain, yes it is the first time yes.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Were you surprised? Do you believe that maybe the building was being monitored for quite some time?

Pat Andrews,
“It is hard to say. I was surprised and I am a little saddened by it but I wouldn’t be able to say whether or not the building was being monitored.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
How is this affecting the work that they do at the consulate?

Pat Andrews,
“It has not affected it at all because what we did, the very Monday we got new equipment and so the work is back to normal and customers should be aware that the consulate is up again and running.”

The items stolen from the Canadian Consulate are valued at over seven thousand dollars. If you have any information on the burglary or the whereabouts of any of the items contact the nearest police station.
