Man Problems & Gunplay: The Other Side
posted (August 8, 2008)

There are two sides to a story and today thirty year old Rosalie Williams, the woman Belize City police says is wanted for the aggravated burglary of another woman spoke to 7NEWS. Williams is angry because she says she didn’t do any of it. In fact on the day in question, Williams was at her usual place of business at the corner of Banak Street and Central American Boulevard where she has been selling food for the past two years. So she was shocked to find out that she was being accused of not only burglarizing a home but threatening Nordette Spain with a knife and gun. Furthermore she was wanted by police for this very serious accusation.

Williams did admit that she and Spain have been at odds for quite sometime because of ‘man problems’ but she told 7NEWS that was the past and today she is happily married and has been working hard to provide for her children. And Williams says she’s the victim of constant harassment, verbal threats and now a false accusation – which she believes is an act of retaliation. And to tell her story, Rosalie Williams says because she knows she has done no wrong she asked 7NEWS not to conceal her face because she wants to be seen and heard so something can be done to finally put this matter to rest.

Rosalie Williams, Defending Her Name
“I told her all I wanted to ask you was if you could please grant me a restraining order or a bound over the peace for the this young lady because I am tired of this young lady having me the up and down dah station and police di come pick me up and have my family going through hell. I told her all I am begging her for is a restraining order. She told me due to the case not being heard yet, when we come back to court on September 11th all of that will be solved. She told Nordette Spain I don’t want you to go anywhere near Rosalie and she said I don’t want you to have anything to say to her if you see her and she told me that if I know that Nordette Spain comes anywhere where I live to just call the police.”

Rosalie Williams who broke down at times says she did not go to the Spain’s residence, nor did she threaten anyone.

Rosalie Williams,
“Miss I want she prove that to the whole public who could tell you everyday Rose deh out deh from 5 o’clock on the Boulevard then nine o’clock at night me is coming in with my cart, me one, not me and nobody and I don’t have time to go and threaten Nordette to tell her to plead guilty because Nordette knows she is guilty and the witnesses will prove that to the court on September 11th.”

Rosalie Williams says she was threatened and that is why she went to the police.

Rosalie Williams,
“And she told me she has already to leave alone my man. I told her you have man issues and that is what it is all about. That night I told her I don’t even have time to deal with you. I said I will call the police and she told me what I am doing it taking bread out of her children’s mouths and she won’t let them happen – she will throw acid in my face.”

Rosalie Williams says the ongoing animosity has not been good for her health because she suffers with high blood pressure and a heart condition. Williams says she is at a loss of what to do but wants the matter to be settled so she and her family can be left alone.

Rosalie Williams,
“All of these are papers for which I went to court and every session when Nordette takes me to court, she has never shown up yet. The Magistrates they could tell you none. I get charged over and over for nothing. How do you expect for me to continue live like this. I hope the law really looks into this and don’t charge me innocently and make this girl do this over and over because it will never done.”

The police have not charged Rosalie Williams for aggravated burglary but on Thursday in their press release stated that she was being sought in connection with the report. Nordette Spain who is on bail after threatening to throw acid in Rosalie Williams’ face is scheduled to reappear in court on September eleventh.
