Today administrators at the University of Belize expressed their pleasure
at the total number of students enrolled in campuses countrywide for the new
academic year: enrolment exceeded the number of students expected. UB’s
Dean of Student Affairs Jean Perriott told 7NEWS that on Monday, one thousand,
four hundred students are expected to register to attend classes that start
on august twentieth. Today we caught up with Perriot at orientation that took
place in Belize City where the new students were being assisted to make that
smooth transition from high school or sixth form to university. Perriott explained
why the total number of students expected to attend UB equals to very good news
for them.
Jean Perriott, Dean of Student Affairs
“They are very excited. We’re actually making an impact on an
education in Belize and preparing our students. As a matter of fact our theme
this year is ‘empowering tomorrow’s leaders’ and so we are
excited about all these young people here. This theme is saying we are ready.
New things are in place, I guess if you’ve been to all our campuses you
will see a refurbishing going on. As you come to the Belmopan campus we’re
looking at our campus infrastructure wise, making it look as other universities
do in other countries, we are looking towards accreditation, we have exciting
new leadership that is leading us towards accreditation and so we’re happy
about that and excited.”
Registration starts on Monday. New students can register from Mondays
to Fridays while returning students must get in touch with UB to find out on
what specific day they can register. Students are reminded that they can now
pay online to avoid the long lines or pay at their respective Scotia Bank branches.
UB classes start on August twentieth.
