Today punta sensation Supa G unveiled his seventh solo album. It is
called “Di Scandal” and speaks about issues affecting many households
and this artist hopes through his music there will be healing. The album is
a slight departure from Supa G’s usual productions but it is no less powerful.
Today he stopped by 7NEWS studios to speak about his latest release.
Supa G, Punta Rock Artist
“This album is speaking about a lot of issues happening in the community,
some of them hidden and later found out about. But my main thing is that I am
speaking on behalf of a lot of people that would want to speak out how they
feel about certain issues and that is what I am doing on this album. A lot of
gun violence in the city and we need to stop it now while we are still able
to and not wait until it really gets out of hand and then we try to do something
about it.
And then I have a next one, ‘pressure,’ which is about everything
going up, the gas going up widely and it is affecting Belize, especially a very
young country like Belize and one called, ‘the rapist,’ child molestor,
as the name states, it is about men molesting the young ones and I believe that
we are supposed to be protecting the young ones.
What we’re doing is an experiment still with punta rock music because
most of the previous years punta rock is all about bashment music, party, but
this album speaks a lot about real issues. Like I said, hopefully the people
enjoy the music. I try to do it still in that party type of way but with messages.”
Di Scandal which was released in time for the September celebrations
is available at most music outlets for twenty five to thirty dollars but if
you just happen to bump into the Supa G on his promotional tour you can get
a copy for twenty dollars.
