In December, a popular local video store was robbed at gunpoint and today the
man accused of the crime was convicted. It happened on the evening of December
20th when Jareth Crawford stormed into Undaground DVDs and CDs. He flipped the
opened sign to closed and then held up the three men in the store. Using a gun,
he got off with about $500 as well as personal items and took the additional
liberty of stealing one of the men’s new bicycle, while he left his old
one behind.
Crawford, a resident of #157 Antelope Street in Belize City is presently on
remanded for an attempted murder after shooting at police earlier this year.
In his defense, Crawford denied the allegations. And in a flourish worthy
of OJ Simpson, he said that the cap police claim he was wearing could not fit
him, or in small change, if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit. But he wasn’t
acquitted; instead he was given two 5 year sentences for two counts of robbery.
The sentences are to run concurrently, so he will only serve 5 years in jail.
