A Belizean has been found dead in Guatemala. He is Gilroy Dawson, known as
toad, a resident of Orange Walk who was in his early 50’s. Alexis Rosado,
the CEO at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that they received official
notice today that his body was found at a location outside of Guatemala City.
Unofficial reports are that he had been tortured and then shot in the head.
CEO Rosado says the report of the discovery of his body comes days after Guatemalan
police report finding a Belize registered car abandoned, 80 miles outside of
Guatemala City. Three passports were found inside; two of them were Belizean,
and one of them was Dawson’s. Te other persons identified in the passports,
a Belizean female and an American male are still unaccounted for.
Law enforcement officials tell us that Gilroy Dawson was a regional player
and was known to hopscotch between Honduras, Salvador and Belize.
