By now you’ve probably heard the song “Rush” by Melonie
Gillett. As we told you in September, she’s a star on the rise with a
big voice and a boom track to back her Beyonce-esque tune, rush. But she’s
been in no rush to get an album out. Though there’s been buzz about her
name since August – she only just now releasing her first EP. She says
it’s been delayed because she’s trying to get everything just right,
from the sound right down to the package. And she finally did get it. She visited
out studio this afternoon and presented us with her EP – four new, compelling
tracks. She told us that just getting out is an incredible relief.
Melonie Gillett, Releasing EP
“Finally it is out. I am relieved, completely relieved to finally
to have it in my hand. There are four songs so there are the three that I have
released on the radio which are Rush, Tek Yuh Time, Love Me, and then I have
an added track, a surprise track that no one has heard as yet. Rush is I guess
R&B up tempo, Tek Yuh Time is dancehall, Love Me is reggae. This is my dream
and I feel like I am getting ever so close to that dream. If you like your own
true Belizean talent you will like this CD.”
The CD is being sold at record stores, but you can also get it from
Melonie herself for ten dollars by calling 627-7020. She will be having release
parties in Belize City, Placencia and San Pedro.
