Two tourists vacationing in Belize for the Christmas holiday both drowned in
separate incidents on Friday December twenty sixth The first tragedy occurred
around eleven fifteen that morning in waters off San Pedro Ambergris Caye. According
to police investigation a group of six had ventured out to the Emeralda Dive
Site located just outside of the barrier reef to scuba dive.
The team included thirty one year old American engineer Noah Webster and his
wife Jessica Webster and fifty four year old Paul Hooker and his wife Pamela
Hooker and their two sons. San Pedro police investigation reveals that Paul
and Pamela Hooker reportedly had already finished their dive and were both resurfacing
when Paul suddenly took off his mask and held onto his chest.
He was quickly helped out of the water and given CPR but all attempts to save
his life was unsuccessful. Paul hooker was pronounced dead one hour later at
the Ambergris Hope Clinic. 7NEWS understands that
the group was accompanied by a tour guide to the dive site.
