It has been there for years but the Iguana Street basketball court re-opened
this morning completely renewed with a new fence, new backboards, new bleachers,
and it’s freshly painted. Most of the work was spearheaded by 11 students
from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
While in Belize the 11 students and one staff member from Wake Forest University
are also holding camp at Gwen Lizarraga High School for 5 to 7 year olds.
It’s of note that on hand for this morning’s reopening were Education
Minister and Area Representative Patrick Faber and Belize City Mayor Zenaida
Moya – the pair were bitter adversaries in the mayoral convention in October
of last year.
