Despite the fact that their brazen hold up and robbery on Monday morning was
caught on camera – it wasn’t exactly in high definition and Belize
City police have yet to arrest the two armed and masked men. As the tape showed,
they ran into the compound of National Transport Services Limited and stole
the bus company’s bag of undisclosed receipts believed to have been proceeds
from the previous day sales.
Today when 7NEWS contacted the company’s operations
manager Philip Jones he told us that he could still not confirm just how much
cash was stolen. Likewise the police could not provide us with a number. Unofficial
reports say it is in the range of twenty thousand dollars. A five thousand dollar
reward has been offered.
What authorities have told us is that they have been questioning one person
and that another person of interest is being sought. Other than that the police
say the investigation is ongoing.
