A Belizean man has been murdered in Melchor. At around 9:00 on Friday night,
Melchor police found the body of 31 year old Johnny Cal in front of the Puerta
Negro Bar. He had been shot in the head.
Details are scarce but reports are that on Friday evening cal was at the bar
which is located near the center of town and we are told it is frequented by
Belizean men. Cal it seems got into an argument and that is what police believe
led to his murder. A post mortem was conducted in Guatemala which certified
the cause of death as a bullet to the head.
His body was brought back to Belize for burial by his mother Martina Cal. Johnny
Cal was a vegetable vendor. The investigation is in the hands of Melchor police
since it occurred outside of the Benque Police’s jurisdiction.
