Belize City police have not yet made any arrest in connection with
the killing of thirty six year old Denbert Jones. The homicide occurred around
one fifteen this morning outside Club Enterprise on Ceasar Ridge Road. According
to police a caretaker heard a single gunshot and searched the property. That’s
when he came upon the body of thirty six year old Denbert Jones lying in a pool
of blood close to steps on the west side of the building.
When police arrived on the scene they observed that Denbert Jones had
a large chop wound to the left side of the neck and stab wounds to the right
shoulder and back. Today the victim’s mother Gladys Young did not wish
to appear on camera but told 7NEWS that she received reports that her son died
while coming to the aid of another person who had reportedly gotten into a fight.

“Denbert my son was a kind person. If anyone was in trouble, he would
always be there for that person, he always likes to assist. He does not love
trouble, he just likes to help people out.”

What would you want to see happen in this case to the individual who did this
to your son?
Gladys Young,
“All I have to tell the guys out there that did my son wrong is that
the Lord is watching. That is all I have to say. We have to learn to have peace
and tranquillity in this place and nobody nowadays for each other. If they do
not love themselves, that means they don’t have love for no one else.
I don’t have any hard feelings about it, we came in this world and we
have to pass away one day but maybe that is the time he should go. I don’t
know.”
Sources tell 7NEWS that it was a relative of the victim that had gotten
into a fight and that Denbert Jones may have been killed by someone he knows
well.
