Barrow Lowers Expectation for UDP in Muncipal Elections
posted (February 16, 2009)

And while the United Democratic Party’s leader - Prime Minister Dean Barrow is confident that Mayor Zenaida Moya and her ten councillors will be returned to City Hall, he isn’t as upbeat about his party’s chances in the other municipal races. Barrow today lowered expectations for the UDP’s performance on March 4th. He says the party will dominate the municipal elections but he doesn’t expect a landslide.

Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister & UDP Leader
“I don’t think that we will win each and every single municipality, in other words I don’t think that the current position will be maintained. In a sense, it would be too much to expect that. The burden of expectation has been extremely great and there is a price to pay for the fact that we have not been able to please all the people, or even as many people as we would have liked. But I think we’re going to win a handsome majority.”

Keith Swift,
Where do you think the weak spots are?

Hon. Dean Barrow,
“I am not going to comment on that.”
