Ministry of Education Responds to Moses Sulph
posted (February 27, 2009)

On Wednesday University of Belize Student Government President Moses Sulph called the media to a press conference where he made public a demand for an increase in the government’s subvention. In a press release today the Ministry of Education says that UB will get the additional one point five million dollars promised by the last administration.

In addition – the release says that the University’s new board is working closely with the administration on a three year development plan for UB. The board is also reviewing audits and cost analysis. It closed by noting that while UB is the national university – it is not the only school in the country and with half of the high school-aged population not in school – the priority has to be on primary and secondary levels.

It also reminds students that at $90 per credit hour – a degree at UB is still the best deal around.
