Former Channel 7 Cameraman Stabbed on Albert Street
posted (March 2, 2009)

There was a stabbing on Friday night in downtown Belize City and former Channel 7 camera man Fortunato Noble was the victim. He told police that it started on Friday night at around 10:30 when he was walking on Orange Street heading to West Street when 24 year old Iver Perez punched him. Noble says he punched back and Perez left. But the two met a short while later. Noble says he was in front of Hofius when Perez attacked him with a butcher knife – inflicting wounds to his left lower back and on his right lower foot.

Noble was taken to the hospital for a wound to his lower back and he has been treated and released. Police charged Perez with grievous harm and he was arraigned today. This morning he initially pleaded guilty but Magistrate Sharon Frazer rejected the plea after Perez maintained that it was noble who attacked and then threatened him. He was granted and met bail of $1,500 plus a surety.

This afternoon it was Fortunato Noble’s turn as he was charged for wounding Perez and for threatening him. Noble was granted bail of $1,000 and a surety. The cases against both men have been adjourned to April 29th.
