Another Wednesday has come and gone and with it, another flight from Cuba, and guess what?....The nine Chinese who came into Belize without a visa are still here!

Yup, they weren’t flown out again today. The explanation this time around is that Cuba won’t take them back with defective passports. Their passports are each missing a page – the same page that had their fake Belizean visa, and the same page they ripped out between Cuba and Belize, so that they wouldn’t be caught with a fake visa, because, obviously in this topsy turvy town, it’s better to have no visa than a fake one!

So they can’t be flown back to Cuba until they get new travel documents. But those have to be issued from China, a country with which Belize doesn’t have diplomatic relations so no direct request can be made. So now, the Government of Belize has to go through a third party to get those documents....

Sounds like one big song and dance, right? That’s what we thought and this time the Ministry isn’t giving any deadline for when they’ll be sent back.. The nine remain on remand at the Hattieville Prison – which we suspect is right in line with somebody’s Plan B.
