Belize City police are on the lookout for three armed young men who used a
stick to knock out a Chinese businessman. The hold-up and robbery occurred around
seven thirty this morning at the OK Store on Central American Boulevard. Initial
investigation reveals that the victim identified as Peng Shou Li had not yet
opened his shop for business but the suspects described as dark complexioned
young men apparently caught the attention of the storeowner by banging on the
closed shop’s window.
The men shouted that they were there to order something, but as soon as Shou
Li stepped outside to help, he was struck in the head and rendered defenceless.
The men then went into the store and helped themselves to an undisclosed amount
of cash and phone cards.
When police arrived on the scene, the suspects were gone but authorities helped
the wounded grocer by taking him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where
we understand Shou Peng Li was treated and later discharged.
